Education is one of the most important foundations for the long-term development of the Rohingya community. Generations of Rohingya students have faced severe barriers to schooling and higher education as a result of persecution, displacement, poverty, restrictions on movement and limited access to institutions. ERC works to help capable students identify educational opportunities and navigate scholarship pathways that may otherwise be difficult to access.
ERC does not itself provide or fund scholarships. Its role is to facilitate, guide, review and, where appropriate, recommend eligible students to scholarship providers and relevant institutions. This approach allows ERC to connect students with established opportunities while helping them understand requirements and prepare stronger applications.
Cooperation with Türkiye Scholarships / YTB
ERC has cooperated with Türkiye Scholarships, administered by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) in Türkiye. Through this cooperation, together with ERC’s facilitation and guidance, hundreds of students have received scholarships and pursued studies at various universities across Türkiye.
Türkiye Scholarships is a highly competitive programme. ERC therefore encourages prospective applicants to assess their academic qualifications, eligibility and overall prospects carefully before investing significant time, effort and resources in an application. Submission through an ERC-supported process does not guarantee eligibility, nomination, university admission or a scholarship award. Final selection and scholarship decisions remain entirely with YTB and the relevant scholarship authorities.
Application, review and guidance
ERC’s scholarship process is designed to make applications more organised and easier to review. Students may be asked to create an applicant account, complete an application, provide the required information and upload supporting documents. ERC can then review the information and documents, identify missing or unclear material and contact applicants when clarification or discussion is needed.
After the application period closes, ERC may assess applications against the relevant requirements and identify candidates whose applications are suitable for further consideration. Eligible applications may then be marked as ready and, where appropriate, forwarded or recommended to the relevant scholarship body. ERC’s role throughout this process is facilitative; the final decision is outside ERC’s authority.
Responsibility and integrity
Applicants are expected to provide truthful, complete and accurate information and genuine documents. ERC may verify submitted material and may contact students by email or mobile for clarification, document verification, discussion or interview. Applicants may also be required to authorise ERC to share relevant application information and documents with YTB, Türkiye Scholarships or other appropriate scholarship-processing bodies when an application is considered suitable.
Students who receive a scholarship are expected to take the opportunity seriously and to work toward completing the programme for which support is granted. ERC’s scholarship facilitation is intended to create lasting educational progress, strengthen professional capacity and help a new generation contribute to their communities.
Education as long-term community development
The value of a scholarship extends beyond one student. Access to universities and professional training can build expertise in fields needed by Rohingya communities and can strengthen future leadership, research, public service and economic independence. ERC therefore sees education as both an individual opportunity and a long-term investment in the capacity and future of the Rohingya people.
ERC will continue to seek constructive cooperation with scholarship providers, educational institutions and partners that can expand fair and meaningful opportunities for Rohingya students. Our aim is to help students move from aspiration to opportunity through careful guidance, responsible facilitation and transparent processes.
