Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led NLD government took office in April 1. Since then the oppression against Rohingya gains its new momentum despite the popular belief by the international community that as a democratic icon, Daw San Suu Kyi will play her role to ensure human rights of Rohingya within first 100 days of her government. Therefore, on 30th June for 24 hr, we storm the web to demand an end to the oppression against Rohingya.
According to UN and many human rights organization, Rohingya is the most persecuted people on earth. Many scholars on “Genocide” argue that the oppression facing by Rohingya is no other than “Genocide.” Aung San Suu Kyi led government took the office on April 1 and now following in the footsteps of previous Thein Sein led government. Despite the hope and expectation of Rohingya and the international community that Aung San Suu Kyi would end the decades-long suffering of the Rohingya, the oppression gains its new shape and momentum such as forced self-identification as Bengali by issuing so-called ‘National Verification Card’, harassment and intimidation to the community elders if they do not participate in Bangalization campaign. Recently, NLD-led government told UN officials not to use the term “Rohingya”. The politicians and world leaders are continuously silent on this issue. Therefore, we use social media to make our voice heard. Please tweet using #EndRohingyaOppression on June 30th for 24 hour to demand that NLD-led government end the oppression against Rohingya!
Our goal is to deliver tens of thousands of messages to world leaders, celebrities, and public speakers so that they know we demand action.
