Dear sisters and brothers,
The Year 2017 has been the worst year in the history of Rohingya where more than 650,000 Rohingya children, men and women were forced to flee to the neighbouring Bangladesh to save their lives. Over 65 percent of them are exhausted and traumatised children and women who had arrived with infected burns, bullet wounds and landmine injuries, and many have been the victims of horrific gang rapes perpetrated by Myanmar Armed Forces under Aung San Suu Kyi’s civilian-led government.
Rohingya have no future to look forward to, but it is the kindness and generous hearts of people around the world who have endlessly worked to help us in one of the worst man-made humanitarian disasters in human history.
Beloved sisters and brothers in humanity, because of your substantial belief in solidarity and justice, Rohingya who are facing genocide in Myanmar can still seek relief and solace on your shoulder in our worst time.
As Christmas and New Year knock our doors, the European Rohingya Council and the whole Rohingya community from around the world take this festive season to say “Thank You” for your solidarity and joyous giving for the Rohingya community in the dire conditions. Your solidarity and walk in the difficult journey have brought joyous smiles and happiness to the many hungry and traumatised Rohingya people, innocent children in particular.
We remind ourselves that with your support, there is still a light at the end of tunnel, and we, Rohingya will soon put a stop to the ongoing genocide and brought the perpetrators into justice.
We do continue look forward to your unconditional support. May our cooperation flourish and expand in the future.
May this festive season end the present year with a cheerful note, make way for each and every day of the new year to be bright and prosperous for everyone around the world, and to be filled with happiness, hope and peace.
With gratitude,
The ERC Team
