EID MUBARAK
On behalf of the European Rohingya Council, I would like to convey Eid Mubarak to each and every Rohingya brother and sister, and Muslims around the world.
It has been around 60 years since the systematic persecutions being institutionalised against our Rohingya community in Myanmar. Over the years, the situations have worsened until to a point where there is now over a million of our people are forced to flee into Bangladesh refugee camps. We have lost everything that we hold dear to us. We have lost our loved ones during the campaigns of genocide. We have lost hope on which we can nurture our dreams. Now we continue to live traumatised and in limbo without the sight of hope – the hope of returning to our native land with dignity and restored rights, the hope of justice being prevailed and the hope of upbringing our children with an education and a future.
On this auspicious day of Eid-ul-Fitr, we call on every Rohingya elder, community leader, social worker, scholar, activist and student to come together for a concerted effort with coordination and cooperation which can move our community forwards in restoring our hope, dream and lost rights, and putting an end to the cycle of degradation of our human rights and the deprivation of our children’s future.
Let’s begin cooperation today.
