ERC delegates attended 28th Session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva

The 28th Regular Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council took place on 2-27 March 2015, at Room XX, Geneva, Palais des Nations.

The lobby members; Dr. Ambia Parveen, Mr. Zahedul Haque and Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, general secretary of the European Rohingya Council (ERC) had attended 28th Session UN Human Rights Council on 2-27 March 2015 in Geneva where highlighted Rohingya issue of Burma. Furthermore, the delegates also participated the panel discussion having questions and answers session regarding the ongoing Rohingya plight.

The delegates of the European Rohingya Council (ERC) also met UN Special Rapporteur Miss Yang-hee Lee in her office of Geneva. They exchanged views and discussed with Lee about the discrimination against Rohingya ethnic minority in Burma mainly focused on the expiration of the White cards at the end of March 2015. She claimed to negotiate the Burmese government and progress more attempts to nullify the Rohingya Crisis. The meeting was brought to an end with a written submission of Rohingya dire situation inside as well as outside of Arakan, Burma.

IMG_8135The ERC had many private meetings with government delegations from Mission permanente de la Suisse, Director of OHCHR, Deputy Chief of OCHA during the UN 28th regular session of Human Right Council . Moreover, they confronted with other International Human Rights Organizations and activists from different countries of the world.

Throughout the conference, a clear message was delivered to the all concerned bodies who are well-immersed in Human Rights that Rohingya are not tending for a separate land rather keen to live in peace as an ethnic minority of Burma under the full citizenship Rights.
